Holistic Treatments for Emotional Wellbeing

Our emotional wellbeing can have a highly negative impact on physical health and day to day function of our bodies. Traditional acupuncture, massage and reiki have been used for generations to restore balance to the mind and body.

I am passionate about helping my clients get to the root source of their ailments, and providing a safe space to open up, discuss and process their life experiences that may be contributing to health problems. Through an adaptable course of complimentary therapy, l address your body’s physical and emotional needs, aiming to release the harmful effects our daily lives can cause from the body. By reducing the contributing factors to your ailments, I create a safe space for the body to heal and restore function.

What can I help you with?

Acupuncture and Reiki for Stress & Anxiety

Sometimes life can get a little more stressful than we might like, and within reason that’s okay. But when stress becomes excessive and an everyday part of life, it can have serious, negative effects on both mental and physical health.

When the body is under too much stress, it becomes compromised. The sympathetic nervous system begins to operate in fight or flight response, which over time causes damaging long term effects on the body’s ability to function. This can cause disturbances and conditions in many of your bodies integral systems, including your nervous system, digestive system and reproductive system.

Acupuncture and Reiki for Emotional Trauma

All of us go through some form of emotional trauma during our lives, and many of us are not well-equipped to process and heal from it alone, and many repress it without realising the damage that can cause.

Some experiences we may not be aware can cause emotional trauma are:
  • Grief
  • Separated or dysfunctional parents
  • Relationship trauma
  • Psychological abuse

Holistic Remedies for Mental Health

Mental well-being is an integral part of health and wellness. A functioning mental state enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realise their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community. Living in any condition that is damaging for your mental health can result in:

  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Depression
  • PTSD
  • Personality Disorders

Struggling with burnout? You're not alone...

I regularly receive new clients coming to me experiencing huge amounts of work related stress or struggles between work, life and family balance that are contributing to burnout and showing up as medical ailments, such as abdominal pain, period pain, irregular menstrual cycle, digestive disorders, fertility issues and deteriorating mental health. Burnout can be caused by either physical or emotional distress, meaning you could feel you have done very little physically, but feeling trapped in situations that are controlling, degrading and go against your core values can put the body under a significant amount of emotional stress. In an ideal world, removing yourself from the damaging situation would be best, but this simply isn’t an option for many people.

Effects of burnout on the body

When the body is under too much stress, it becomes compromised. The sympathetic nervous system begins to operate in fight or flight response, which is an automatic survival mechanism where the body prepares you to respond correctly when you are faced with a life threatening or dangerous situation. This response signals the body to release adrenaline into the body and cortisol into the bloodstream which can cause a host of uncomfortable symptoms such as a fast heartbeat, shallow breathing and racing thoughts and cause damaging long term effects on the body’s ability to function.

Acupuncture and reiki can provide relief from these symptoms by calming the nervous system and returning the body to balance.

How does it work?

Traditional acupuncture is a healthcare system based on ancient principles which go back nearly two thousand years. It describes a model of good health and function, and looks at pain and illness as signs that the body is out of balance. The overall aim of acupuncture treatment therefore is to restore the body’s equilibrium, natural flow of energy, and help remove any blocks that may be preventing this flow state. This assists the body in its natural healing capabilities. The relaxing element of the session helps to calm the nervous system and bring the body out of the fight or flight response, therefore reducing the negative effects on the body.

Committing to wellbeing

Taking time from your busy schedule to engage in therapeutic acupuncture and Chinese medicine is an investment in yourself, and in your physical and mental health and wellbeing. With all my treatments, the core goal is to promote and restore the balance of energy which flows through your body, and the benefits of this rebalancing work on myriad levels. This helps to combat physical conditions associated with stress and helps to alleviate the underlying emotional conditions. Acupuncture is increasingly being recognised by many health professionals as an important alternative therapy for mental health conditions.
